null.audio releases ALIGN and EDIT, bringing ARA plug-ins to Ableton Live

Germany, 26 October 2026. Independent developer null.audio today released ALIGN and EDIT 1.0 for Ableton Live on macOS and Windows. Ableton Live has never hosted ARA plug-ins, so tools like VocAlign and Melodyne can't read Live's clips directly the way they do in Cubase, Studio One or REAPER. null.audio runs the ARA host next to Live and connects it to the clips in the Arrangement.

ALIGN: VocAlign in Ableton Live, eight doubles at once
Without ARA, aligning vocal doubles in Live means playing every take into VocAlign in real time and setting up the alignment inside the plug-in. With ALIGN, producers set a Guide clip and ALIGN finds the takes under it by their track names (Dbl, Double, Harm, BGV, Adlib, Stack and more). Up to eight Dubs open in VocAlign together, with nothing to capture inside VocAlign. One Commit puts each aligned Dub back on its own track. The vocal chain stays live on the track; nothing is bounced through it. ALIGN works with VocAlign Pro and Standard, versions 6 and 7.

EDIT: Melodyne and other ARA editors, heard in the Live mix
EDIT opens any Arrangement clip in Melodyne, SpectraLayers, RePitch, Vovious or NoiseWorks VoiceAssist with no transfer pass. The EDIT Bridge, a small plug-in on the track, plays every edit in Live in real time while the editor is open, through the track's vocal chain and against the rest of the song. Commit writes the edit into a new file and puts it in place of the clip; the original file stays untouched, and Revert puts it back.

"I wanted ARA in Ableton for years. I kept switching to Cubase just to do vocals, and every time I lost the flow of the song. null.audio is the workflow I wanted: stay in Live, open the clip, hear it in the mix," says Jan Rothmann, founder of null.audio.

Both products are non-destructive: they write new audio files and never delete the originals. Audio never leaves the computer. A null.audio alignment engine, which would let ALIGN work without VocAlign, is in development.
